Thumbs Up – Elk River

This is a free weekly drop-in group for emerging adults (ages 18-25 years old) aimed at facilitating connections between peers as well as supportive leaders.
At Adultish, we grow through the connections we make with others through art, games, laughter, and positive support. We believe that social connections are a foundational part of mental well-being. We value and welcome all people; we cannot wait to meet you!

Meet the Group Leader!
Katie O’Toole
Katie, a self-proclaimed activity guru, joins Thumbs Up with 20+ years of experience in youth development and programming. Over the years, she’s been privileged to play many roles, including camp director, outdoor educator, after-school staff, and art teacher, but she most proudly wears the badge of “the fun aunt”
With a degree in Experiential Education, Katie is a big believer in the power of experience and reflection to help us, specifically youth, learn more about ourselves. She also happens to be a big fan of experiences of the paranormal variety—though those tend to leave her with more questions than answers.
When she’s not at work, Katie can usually be found enjoying the outdoors, tinkering on a DIY project, hanging out with her three fur-babies, or catching a live performance of just about any kind. In other words, she’s happiest when she’s making something, doing something, watching something, or convincing her pets that they need another walk.
“I really like this group because I can interact with people like me. I’m homeschooled and I’m pretty anti-social but I need friends and I need people to talk to and this group really gives me a place where I CAN talk to people without being overwhelmed or scared. I love that there’s always something to do and always someone to help out and if it wasn’t there the only place I’d see other people outside of my family would be the grocery store, and trust me when I say this group is so so so much better than a grocery store.”
