SUMMARY:Teen Outreach Event
DESCRIPTION:At a time when anxiety\, depression\, and isolation continue to rise—especially among young people—community members in and around the St. Michael area are invited to attend this teen outreach free public event focused on mental health awareness and suicide prevention\, taking place Tuesday\, April 14 at St. Michael High School. \nThe evening centers on a simple but powerful message: just one conversation can save a life. \n“Research shows that talking openly about suicide does not increase risk—it actually makes it more likely that someone will seek help\,” said Sam Eaton\, founder of Recklessly Alive. “This event is about creating space for honest conversations and reminding people they are not alone.” \nThe event will feature a keynote presentation from Eaton\, who will share his personal story of overcoming depression and a suicide attempt\, along with practical tools for recognizing warning signs and supporting those who may be struggling. His presentation emphasizes recovery\, help-seeking\, and hope\, and is designed to be safe\, responsible\, and appropriate for a wide audience. \nThe program runs from 10:44 am – 11:29 am. \nThe event is free and open to the public\, and is recommended for ages 12+. STMA staff requests that all guests are prepared with their ID upon arrival. No graphic or inappropriate content will be included. \nEaton\, a former public school educator with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership\, has spoken at over 250 events nationwide\, including schools\, conferences\, and community organizations. His work focuses on helping individuals and communities build a culture of openness\, support\, and proactive mental health care.
